Notice Description

Reading Borough Council intends to appoint an experienced Contractor who can deliver the following Scheme: The location of works are on the A33 in defined areas between Rose Kiln Lane / Matalan gyratory and Basingstoke Road (B3031) / Reading International Business Park gyratory. The work comprises carriageway widening to accommodate the new MRT (bus) lanes and associated and proposed footway / cycleways on the A33 in Reading. Work includes but is not limited to steel sheet pile retaining structures, road construction, alterations to the surface water drainage, street lighting, statutory utilities diversions, road restraint systems and traffic signal systems. The greater part of the works fall within areas designated Phase 1b Northbound & Phase 4a. The works also cover some 'small works' in nearby areas along the A33 designated Phase 1a and Phase 1b Southbound. The works in Phase 1B northbound comprise the following main elements: Carriageway widening works to accommodate the new MRT (bus) lanes and associated and proposed footway / cycleways on the A33. Work includes but is not limited to new road construction, alterations to the surface water drainage, street lighting, statutory utilities diversions, road restraint systems and renewal of a traffic signal controlled pedestrian crossing (in conjunction with crossing on Phase 1b southbound). The works in Phase 1B southbound comprise the following main elements: Renewal of a traffic signal controlled pedestrian crossing (in conjunction with crossing on Phase 1b northbound) including minor alterations to 'civils' infrastructure. The works in Phase 4a comprise the following main elements: Carriageway widening works to accommodate the new MRT (bus) lanes and associated and proposed footway / cycleways on the A33. Work includes but is not limited to steel sheet pile retaining structures, road construction, alterations to the surface water drainage, street lighting, statutory utilities diversions, road restraint systems. The works in Phase 1a comprise the following main elements: Footway and cycleway widening works and street lighting works on A33 southbound and street lighting in central reserve including minor alterations to 'civils' infrastructure. Additional information: The procurement exercise will be conducted in accordance with the information contained in the procurement documents. The contracting authority does not bind itself to enter into any contract as a result of the publication of this notice and will not, under any circumstances, have any liability for any costs any person responding to this notice incurs in any part of the tender process. The services are to be procured under an open procedure and organisations interested in expressing an interest should download the procurement documents which are available on the Council's e-tendering system at: https://in-tendhost.co.uk/readingbc (Project Reference No. RBC 00000370 refers), and complete as instructed.
