Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process, led by Transport for London (TfL), focuses on the "Roadlab 3 Innovation Challenge MSQ" aimed at improving sustainability across roadworks and road networks, specifically through carbon reduction in maintenance and flood impact mitigation via drainage. As of 17 September 2024, the process is in the planning stage. The Market Sounding Questionnaire (MSQ) assesses available solutions and potential future trials. Key dates include an engagement end date on 20 September 2024, with feedback submissions due by 6 September 2024. This procurement is based in London, United Kingdom, and spans various industry categories such as road construction materials, drainage, and road equipment.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in sustainable construction, innovative drainage solutions, and carbon reduction technologies. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations are particularly well-suited to compete. Participation in this MSQ can lead to potential funding and partnership opportunities with TfL aimed at tackling pressing environmental challenges in urban infrastructure. Engaging in this initiative could propel business growth by offering parties a chance to trial and showcase cutting-edge solutions on a high-profile public platform.

Notice Title

Roadlab 3 Innovation Challenge MSQ: Improving sustainability across roadworks and road networks with a focus on carbon reduction in roadwork maintenance and reducing impact of flooding through drainage

Notice Description

This Market Sounding Questionnaire (MSQ) is issued by Transport for London (TfL) ahead of a potential funded competition to engage with the market to: * Understand what solutions exist that could improve sustainability across TfL's road network. * Understand what technologies and processes exist in other cities, locations and industries that might be applicable to road network in London. * Gauge suppliers' interest, capabilities, and capacity to engage in a potential future trial. We are interested in learning about all solutions that could improve sustainability in roadworks, however there are two problem statements that this challenge will focus on: * Reducing carbon impact in roadwork maintenance activities * Improving drainage to deal with surface water flooding Note: We are still interested in your solution as long as it's relevant to sustainability across roadworks and TfL's road network. Funding may be made available for future trials with solutions that fall outside of the two problem areas above. Please complete the questionnaire either online via MS forms at the following link https://forms.office.com/e/whJCCLBxXb (recommended option), or you can download the MSQ below and then submit it to email msqinnovation@tfl.gov.uk with the title 'RoadLab 3 MSQ submission'. If you have any issues with access and/you would like to raise any clarifications, please email msqinnovation@tfl.gov.uk with the title 'RoadLab 3 MSQ query' For your feedback to be taken into account, your completed MSQ must be received by 1pm GMT the 6 September 2024. All timelines provided are subject to change at TfL's discretion. This questionnaire will not form part of any formal TfL procurement process. No representation or warranty, express or implied, is or will be given by TfL or any of its officers, employees, servants, agents or advisers with respect to the information or opinions contained in the EME documents. Any liability in respect of such representations or warranties, howsoever arising, is hereby expressly disclaimed but nothing in the EME documents shall exclude or restrict liability for fraudulent misrepresentations.
