Summary of the contracting process

The Thetford Town Council is initiating a public procurement process for the "Restoration of Lambert's Paint Works," aimed at hiring an architect to aid in the restoration of the Charles Burrell Museum, a Grade II listed building. This project falls under the architectural and related services category, with an estimated value of £20,000. The open procurement method is applied here, allowing participation by all interested parties. The tender period is set to close on 22nd February 2019, with the contract expected to commence on 1st April 2019 and last until 31st January 2022. The project's delivery location is in Thetford, IP24 1BN, England, and is supported by Historic England through a development grant application by the Trustees.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in architectural services, particularly those with conservation accreditation. Companies that are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or voluntary community sector enterprises (VCSE) may find themselves well-positioned to compete, especially if they have experience working with heritage buildings. Successful bidders will engage in two main stages: assessing the building’s condition and then overseeing the actual restoration work. This contract not only allows for engagement in a meaningful preservation project but also enhances visibility and credibility in the public sector for participating firms.
