Notice Description

Verse testing four (4) locations of both lines Midland Metro runs from Wolverhampton to Birmingham city centre along 21km with 18km of segregated track. The four sections that require testing of both tracks will be based on the Network Rail (NWR) rule that each Verse test covers circa 200m either side of the lift point. The areas to be tested are as follows: * Section 1 Great Western to Hill Top Tunnel - (1200m) 3 test locations of both lines along the section (6 tests total 3 each rail). Testing points at 200m, 600m and 1000m. * Section 2 Kenrick Park to Hawthorns - (1300m) 4 test locations of both lines along the section. (8 tests total 4 each rail) Testing points at 200m, 600m, 1000m and 1300m. * Section 3 The Crescent to Priestfield - (1500m) 4 test locations of both lines along the section. (8 tests total 4 each rail) Testing points at 200m, 600m, 1000m and 1400m. * Section 4 Benson road to Jewellery Quarter - (1800m) 5 test locations of both lines along the section. (10 tests total 5 each rail) Testing locations at 200m, 600m, 1000m, 1400m and 1800m. Contractors are to supply all Risk assessments and method statements for this work to be carried out in accordance with current NWR standards. Once all tests have been completed details of results will be issued to MML within an electronic report that will detail any required stressing works and recommendations on how to achieve this in a safe and timely manner. (Always working to NWR standards) Definition of verse Verse is used to measure the vertical stiffness of the rail along with other measured parameters to ascertain if the rail stress is sufficient.
