The purpose of the Substance Use and Mental Health Needs Assessment is: * To understand the current substance use and mental health service deliverables and how they are similar/different to the new service specification (draft) * To facilitate the understanding of the substance use and mental health needs within the different prison populations, including dementia. * To identify whether the services provided are comparable with HMIP/CQC expectations for substance use and mental health * To identify gaps in service provision and possible solutions * To identify opportunities for collaborative working that could offer a holistic approach to substance use and mental health * To support the commissioner to prioritise resources * To assist decision makers in the maintaining, planning and future improvement of services which address need, efficiency and effectiveness * To identify the changing demographics of prisoners The Substance Use and Mental Health Needs Assessment must consider the full range of substance use needs both clinical and non-clinical, and must have a specific focus on New Psychoactive Substances (NPS). The Provider will be required to focus on current prevalence of self-harm and suicide, number of prisoners on ACCTs and explore the links with mental health needs and clinical constant watches.
