Notice Title

NHS West Lancashire CCG - iHELP Community Pain Management Service

Notice Description

The NHS supports the development of improved access to community-based provision as part of the drive to reduce waiting times and improve choice and care close to home for patients. This development is part of an overall strategy to ensure that Pain Management services are undertaken at the right stage of a patient pathway and in the most appropriate clinical setting. West Lancashire CCG are publishing this pipeline notice of their intention to run an Innovation Partnership tender process for its Pain Management service. The aim of this process is to secure an innovative service that will manage conditions that can be dealt with in a community setting and will be known as 'iHELP', which stands for integrated, holistic empowering learning programme and will enable improved patient flow through GP practice services, and support the management of increasing demand for secondary care services. All healthcare services need to be pathway efficient and represent value for money. The service described in this specification encourages providers to deliver care as cost effectively and conveniently for patients as possible and to utilise the skills of a variety of clinicians and services. This will also support the sustainability of 18 week referral to treatment (RTT) compliance. Currently all patients registered with West Lancashire CCG practices and who experience chronic pain management receive their treatment from their GP, secondary care or if appropriate from the Musculo skeletal service - Joint Health. Pain Management has been identified by the CCG as an area that would benefit from service redesign and also one that could provide a more efficient use of resources when provided in a different model. The CCG will be holding a engagement event on Wednesday 3rd May 2017 (event details shown below) where they would like to invite interested parties to come along to discuss potential service models within West Lancashire. The purpose is to inform potential providers of the CCGs intentions, explain the process that is going to be used and gather the views and comments from a range of providers and interested parties. It must be stressed that at this stage, this is purely an information sharing and fact finding exercise and no tenders will be invited as part of this process. If you would like to participate please can you send expressions of interest by mid-day on the 2nd May 2017 to Paula.Williams16@nhs.net Date of Event 3rd May 2017 Time 9.30 Registration for a 10.00 am start until 3.00pm Location Best Western - Lancashire Prescott Road, East Pimbo, Wigan, Lancashire, WN8 9QD Lunch and an opportunity to network will be provided during the day.
