Notice Description

BMBC has a statutory duty to arrange home to school travel arrangements for eligible children with special educational needs to access their education . The requirement is for a regular home to school transport service during school term time both in the Borough of Barnsley and out of the Borough, which include daily, weekly, fortnightly, or termly singly or return journeys.The Service Providers will be required to provide a range of vehicles to deliver the services, from cars to passenger carrying vehicles (vehicles with 6 seats and more). There will be a requirement for a number of vehicles to be fitted with appropriate equipment to enable clients to access/egress the vehicle safely. Vehicle requirement depending on routes will comprise of the following: Saloon - Non-wheelchair - Up to 4 Passenger Seats MPV - Non-wheelchair - Up to 8 Passenger Seats Minibus - Non-wheelchair - Up to 16 Passenger Seats Saloon - Wheelchair - Up to 4 Passenger Seats MPV - Wheelchair - Up to 8 Passenger Seats Minibus - Wheelchair - Up to 16 Passenger Seats Circa 200 pupils to be travel to and from 16 different schools, mainly on a day to day basis. Key date for the commencement of delivery this service is the start of the new academic year September 2017. The requirement is for circa 30 routes which will be awarded on an individual basis. Additional information: Applicants will need to register their interest against this procurement event via YORtender in order to gain access to the tender documents.
