Summary of the contracting process

Durham County Council is conducting a tender for the "Provision of a Cleaning Service for Tanfield School," located in the North East of England. The procurement phase is currently complete, with the contract awarded on 29th May 2018. The contract period spans from 1st July 2018 to 30th June 2020, with a possible extension of 24 months. The expected contract value is £320,000, and businesses should note the TUPE implications due to transferring existing staff. Interested parties were invited to submit tenders before the deadline on 9th April 2018.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for service providers in the cleaning sector, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the capacity to manage staffing transitions under TUPE regulations. Companies with experience in educational or institutional cleaning contracts would be particularly well-suited to compete, leveraging their expertise to service similar contracts effectively. With the contract's notable value and potential extensions, successful bidders could establish a long-term relationship with a key public sector buyer.
