This is to inform you the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) is looking for a Family law legal subject matter expert. Expertise is required to provide MaPS with the latest high-level legal guidance with experience in practicing across all 3 jurisdictions on Family law (England & Wales, Scotland and NI) or with coordination with other third parties in no more than a few sentences for roughly 50 specific points/questions linked to our guidance on separation and divorce, plus some additional hours for clarification discussions. The aim is to ensure we understand the key legal principles correctly as we link financial guidance to them, so legal guidance needs to be concise and clear, using lay language. The 50 questions are split into eight key areas: 1. Legal basics / principles to end relationships. 2. Legal basics / principles to protect home rights and keeping up payments when deciding to separate. 3. Legal basics / principles to protect immediate financial position when deciding to separate. 4.Legal basics / principles when the separating couple have children. 5. Legal and financial considerations when proceeding with divorce or separation. 6. Legal basics / principles for dividing assets and liabilities when reaching a financial settlement when divorcing. 7. Legal basics / principles for dividing assets or liabilities when separating as an unmarried, cohabiting couple. 8. Legal and financial considerations after divorce, dissolution or separation Examples of the types of questions we are interested in are below: *To protect the immediate financial position when deciding to separate/divorce, what actions should be considered to protect joint bank accounts, savings, investments, insurance and other assets when married or civil partners? *What are the options for financing legal costs and fees while proceedings are under way and/or when financial settlement is reached? *What are the legal remedies for non-payment or arrears of child maintenance? The anticipated value of this requirement is PS50k.
