Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process initiated by Canterbury Christ Church University involves the tender for "Student Uniforms," classified under the industry category of medical clothing. This open procurement process, adhering to an open procedure above the threshold, is currently in the active tender stage, with the submission deadline set for 4th March 2021. The contract, which commences on 19th April 2021 and extends until 18th April 2024, focuses on the manufacture of garments, measuring and issuing services, placement badges, and the establishment of an online store for student orders. The delivery address is located in Canterbury, Kent, CT1 1QU, in the South East of the United Kingdom.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses specializing in garment manufacturing, particularly those experienced in producing uniforms and other medical clothing. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are welcome to apply, making this a suitable opportunity for local suppliers capable of ensuring prompt delivery and efficient service. Interested companies should possess capabilities in managing bulk orders and providing a seamless online ordering experience, as the chosen supplier will need to set up and maintain stocks for ongoing demand throughout the academic year.

Notice Title

Student Uniforms

Notice Description

Overview of Requirements The service received from the University's current uniform supplier comprises four separate parts: Manufacture of Garments A range of fifteen different student and staff garments are required by the University in standard and non-standard sizes, with all tops displaying a two-colour embroidered logo. The selected supplier is required to manufacture these items and maintain sufficient stocks to ensure orders throughout the academic year are delivered quickly and efficiently. The University and the current supplier have jointly developed the current range of garments for the health students as notified in the specification section of this document. Measuring & Issue Service When the student intake arrives at the University in September, the supplier will need to run events on both the Canterbury and Medway campuses (2 days at each campus plus a set-up day) where students are measured, and the correct garments (in the appropriate sizes) are issued on the same day. This ensures there are no delays for students starting their placements. Currently around 95% of garments are issued to students during their first week. Following the measure and issues days there are also two exchange days run by the suppliers, one at each campus. Placement Badges All new students are issued with magnetic placement badges with the students' preferred first name, current course, and the University logo. On-line Store Students who require additional or replacement garments after the Measure & Issue day must be able to order these directly from the chosen supplier. It is expected that the successful supplier will provide an on-line store to facilitate a simple ordering process for students where the cost of the uniform and delivery is payable by the student. All transactions/communications for this service will be directly between the student and the company. An online website is also required for the Faculty to be able to directly order additional uniform to be delivered to the Canterbury campus.
