Birmingham City Council is currently executing a tender for its Private Sector Leasing Scheme, aimed at providing temporary accommodation for the homeless in Birmingham. This procurement process is in the Award stage, with a contract period running from 1st January 2016 to 22nd December 2016. The council is seeking up to 630 furnished properties, including hostel-type accommodations and two to three-bedroom homes, with an anticipated spend of approximately £5 million per annum. The open procedure allows private-sector landlords to apply for inclusion on the proposed framework.

This tender presents significant opportunities for landlords and property management businesses, especially those that can provide suitable furnished properties meeting the Decent Homes Standard. Those well-suited to compete include private landlords and property developers with experience in managing residential properties. By participating in this scheme, businesses can gain long-term contracts and contribute to addressing homelessness in the Birmingham area, thereby enhancing their market presence and community impact.

Notice Title

C0135B - PRIVATE SECTOR LEASING SCHEME

Notice Description

Birmingham City Council awarded a three year contract for the Private Sector Leasing Scheme which will expire on the 22nd December 2016. Under the Scheme, private-sector landlords will make available up to 630 furnished properties of between one and six bedrooms for use as temporary accommodation for the homeless. This is through one of two ways: 1. Enter into three-year block contracts for specific properties and when required the potential of a further mini competition to extend the block contract. 2. Set-up a Framework that will enable the Council to 'call-off' further properties. In order to meet required numbers we are now inviting organisations and individual landlords to apply to be considered for inclusion on the Framework and in particular for the following property types: * Hostel type accommodation * 2 bedroom properties * 3 bedroom properties Repair and maintenance of the properties will continue to be the responsibility of the Landlord for the duration of the scheme.
