Summary of the contracting process

The National Trust, operating from Heelis in Swindon, England, has initiated a tender process for consultancy services related to the Diamond-backed Spider Recovery Project at Clumber Park and the Sherwood Forest landscape. This opportunity requires ecological expertise for improving the understanding and management of the critically endangered diamond-backed spider. The contract is under the environmental engineering consultancy services category, inclusive of monitoring and natural resources management services. The project is open for tender until 31st July 2026, and covers areas within the East and West Midlands. The contract period is planned from 10th August 2026 to 1st March 2029, with an overall budget of £35,922.

This tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses involved in ecological consultancy, particularly those specialising in habitat management and endangered species protection. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate as the open procurement procedure below threshold provides a competitive platform for diverse organisations to engage with a prestigious institution like the National Trust. Companies with capabilities in environmental monitoring and strategic conservation planning would find this tender well-suited to their expertise, especially those with the flexibility to work collaboratively with academic and ecological bodies.
