Notice Description

Essex County Council's (ECC) strategic plan for 2021 to 2025, makes a commitment to net zero and to "work across the Council and County to hit our net zero targets by ensuring that the Council significantly reduces its carbon footprint whilst also supporting an acceleration in the progress towards sustainable housing and energy". The plan also commits ECC to "work with communities and businesses, providing advice and support to enable and empower local action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build climate resilience." Hence, the Council seeks to appoint a consultancy for the delivery of a programme of community energy group mentoring, and support. Through this market engagement activity, ECC hopes to identify consultancies who have capacity and professional experience in providing mentoring and support to community energy groups in respect of: identifying relevant initiatives for community energy groups to participate in; providing expert assistance in the writing of funding and grant applications; providing technical expertise in preliminarily identifying local opportunities for renewables best suited to a group's locality and optimising the technical specifications of any such renewable; business plans and business development support.
