This project falls under the software package and information systems industry category and is located in Bristol, South West England. The award date was on 3rd May 2018, with the contract period commencing on 2nd July 2018 and concluding on 1st July 2023. The open procurement method enabled competitive bidding, targeting a minimum contract value of £400,000 up to £500,000. The purpose of the tool is to enhance UWE's curriculum approval and review processes, integrating with various university systems to ensure seamless data management.

This contract presents significant growth opportunities for businesses specialising in cloud-based software solutions, especially those with expertise in curriculum management systems. Companies capable of providing effective user interfaces, flexible workflow capabilities, and implementation support will be well-positioned to compete for this project. Given the emphasis on integration with existing University systems, suppliers with experience in educational data systems and processes will also find this tender particularly relevant. Notice Title

027/2017E Curriculum Management Tool (ITT) - AWARD

Notice Description

UWE Bristol is seeking to source and implement a system which supports its current and evolving curriculum approval and review processes, and is the repository for the University's master course data, with support for implementation. UWE Bristol currently manages its curriculum approval and review processes via an outdated system with no workflow management or integration to the other University systems which rely on course data, such as the Student Information System (SIS), the web Content Management System (CMS) and the timetabling system. The University is working on a business case for a new SIS (to replace a system based around a largely in-house solution), and is starting procurement for a new CMS. The University aims to meet demands for enhanced reporting to internal and external stakeholders. Course data is the foundation on which such student data is held, so solutions will need to support this, now and in the future. Over the course of 2017/8 the University is implementing a new hybrid data integration architecture to support the integration of data from our cloud-hosted IT systems with those on premise. In this complex context the University is exploring suitable solution and procurement options, and aiming to clarify our requirements for a curriculum management solution. Our current assumption is that we are looking for: a) an off the shelf, cloud based curriculum management system, with a database holding full course, module and assessment data and attributes, effective version control, workflow capability to support approval and review processes, user interfaces for both academic and professional services staff; b) support for implementation and process design; The University is keen not to inadvertently constrain potentially viable arrangements nor preclude potentially viable suppliers, therefore, despite our Cloud First strategy, we will consider non-SaaS products. The solution may involve stand-alone software, or may form part of a Student Information System, but we would expect it to be implemented independently initially and interoperate with a selected SIS in future. The University would want a partner (or partners) with experience who can help align this solution with the wider context.
