Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process is being conducted by NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands for the project titled "GP Front Door to Emergency Department." This initiative falls under the health and social work services category and is located in Birmingham, West Midlands. Currently in the planning stage, key dates include a market engagement event scheduled for 17th May 2016, which aims to gather insights from potential suppliers regarding the service model and procurement process. Interested parties should note that the engagement end date is set for 23rd February 2018.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses focused on healthcare services, particularly those experienced in primary care and urgent care solutions. The market engagement event will allow companies to provide their input on the proposed service model that will assist in managing demand at Emergency Departments. Businesses involved in delivering clinical services, triage, and return-to-health programmes would be well-suited to compete, as this project aims to improve patient management and operational efficiency in hospital settings.

Notice Title

GP Front Door to Emergency Department (on behalf of Birmingham Cross City CCG)

Notice Description

This advert is to make organisations aware of a Market Engagement event to discuss the upcoming procurement of GP Front Door to Emergency Department (ED). The CCG will present the proposed specification, service model and the procurement process. A description of the service is as follows: National evidence suggests that between 10% -30% of patients who attend an Emergency Department (ED) do so with symptoms that could appropriately be managed within a primary care setting by a primary care clinician with the necessary skills. The volume of such patients can reduce the capacity of the Emergency Department to assess and treat patients with serious illnesses or injuries requiring immediate attention. It also adversely impacts on the ability of Ambulance crews to handover patients. Birmingham CrossCity Clinical Commissioning Group (BCC CCG) intends to use this piece of national evidence to support the development of a General Practitioner at the Front Door of the Emergency Department (GPFDED) model at both University Hospitals of Birmingham (UHB) and Birmingham Heartlands Hospital (BHH), which is part of Heart of England Foundation Trust (HEFT). The service will be initial point of triage for ED with the objective of identifying patients that are suitable for treatment and discharge directly from their service or navigated to other appropriate Non-ED services in order to support the management of increasing demand within ED. The proposed model of service will look at any patient who self-presents to the Emergency Department or who is conveyed by ambulance but meets the agreed clinical criteria. The service will run 7 days a week 11am to 11pm. The event details are: Date - Tuesday 17th May 2016 Time - 09:00am - 12:00pm Location - Birmingham Cross City CCG, Bartholomew House, 142 Hagley Road, Birmingham, B16 9PA Additional information: To confirm their attendance at the Market Engagement Event - organisations will be required to complete the form entitled PQQ_ 208 (see how to apply below), this form will ask bidders to provide basic details such as name, organisation, confirmation of attendance and number of attendees. Go to https://ardengemcsu.bravosolution.co.uk Click on Project_441 Complete the form entitled PQQ_208 and click submit this will then log your details and confirm your attendance.
