Notice Description

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified building contractors for construction work to improve access & facilities for disabled persons at 4 Libraries & a Sons of Rest building. Scope of Contract is as follows: o One project will comprise works to the following neighbouring properties: o Hill Top Sons of Rest, West Bromwich - provision of wheelchair-accessible toilet facility & external ramped access to main entrance. o Hill Top Library, West Bromwich - provision of a wheelchair-accessible toilet facility. o Brandhall Library, Oldbury - provision of a wheelchair-accessible toilet facility. o Oakham Library, Oldbury - provision of wheelchair & ambulant accessible toilet facilities and Fire Exit improvements. o Rounds Green Library, Oldbury - provision of wheelchair-accessible toilet facility, internal & external access improvements (including handrails to internal steps, tactile paving & new handrails to external steps, dropped kerb & tactile paving to parking bay). o Duration of each project 6 weeks commencing 13 February 2017. The following drawings are also provided for information: o Standard layout of wheelchair & ambulant accessible toilets. o Hill Top Sons of Rest - internal toilet alterations & external ramp. o Hill Top Library - internal toilet alterations. o Brandhall Library - internal toilet alterations. o Oakham Library - internal toilet alterations & Fire Exit works. o Rounds Green Library - internal toilet alterations & access improvements. The tender documents will include schedules of works & drawings. Expressions of interest are sought from applicants who meet the following pass/fail criteria o Constructionline contracted minimum value of ?250,000.00. o Membership of recognised SSIP scheme o Public Liability Insurance level of ?5 million o Employers Liability Insurance level of ?10 million o Asbestos awareness certified o Details of any Prohibitions/Improvement notices o Details of any RIDDOR referrals Please provide details of two recently completed projects involving improvement works to Public Buildings for people with disabilities. The required number of tenderers for the contract will be restricted to four. All applicants should provide their Constructionline registration number. All applications will be checked to ensure they meet the above criteria. Should more than four suitably applications be received, the Council will select a random choice to be issued a tender document. Should fewer than four applications be received the Council will pick a random selection from the Constructionline database to fulfil tendering requirements. Please see attached drawings.
