Notice Title

Market Research work : Assessment of the commercialisation potential of FENAC

Notice Description

We are seeking a report to aid decision making about the potential for commercialisation of FENAC (the Facility for Environmental Nanoscience Analysis and Characterisation, www.birmingham.ac.uk/facilities/fenac). FENAC is a laboratory based facility, currently funded by NERC (the Natural Environment Research Council) to support research into the biological and environmental impacts of nanomaterials. There is extensive experience within the laboratory, with nanomaterials from suspensions in liquids including in water from lakes, rivers, ground waters, estuaries and seawater, and also in biological culture media and complex physiological fluids and tissues. FENAC is located at the University of Birmingham within the environmental nanomaterials research laboratory, and there is spare capacity on the characterisation instruments. A draft report should be presented in electronic form, and verbally in a meeting or by Skype, to allow discussion and clarification of the report. The final Market assessment report and Marketing Strategy Report should be delivered as an electronic version with 3 paper copies. It is expected that the copyright in the report will belong to the University of Birmingham. The names of the people interviewed and the organisation they work for should be listed in the appendix of the report. A separate list of contact details of all people who expressed an interest in FENAC services should be in the report Appendix. Based on the expected activity and budget, an indicative range for the total contract value may be taken as PS7-9,000, inclusive of VAT. When evaluating cost, the quality of the overall bid and its constituent parts will be taken into consideration alongside the financial values. The above range is indicative and bids above and below the range are acceptable but bidders should ensure that where above the range, the additional quality offered is well substantiated and that where below the range that you ensure that you detail how you meet the minimum quality standards required.
