Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for Livestock Disposal & Transport is being conducted by the Defra Network eTendering Portal, focusing on services within the environmental sector. The tender, which was published on 10th July 2020, is currently at the award stage, with the contract period starting from 8th October 2020 and ending on 7th October 2024. The tender period concluded on 14th August 2020, and the procurement method employed is an open procedure, aimed at establishing a framework agreement across eight geographical regions in England, Wales, and Scotland.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in waste management and transport services, particularly those that can deliver both routine and emergency livestock disposal services. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) specialising in environmental services are encouraged to participate, as this framework seeks to engage suitably qualified service providers who can respond effectively to animal health outbreaks as well as Business As Usual (BAU) scenarios.
