Summary of the contracting process

The Barrow in Furness Borough Council is currently inviting tenders for the "Partnership Grant Scheme, HSHAZ Barrow-in-Furness", aiming for architects with conservation accreditation. This procurement falls under the services category, specifically focused on providing architectural design and project management services. The tender was published on 27th May 2021, with a deadline for submissions set for 10th June 2021. The successful contract period is expected to run from 5th July 2021 to 5th July 2022, with initial projects anticipated to commence between August and October 2021.

This tender represents an excellent opportunity for architectural firms, especially those accredited by AABC or RIBA in conservation, to engage in a mini framework that could lead to multiple projects over a three-year grant allocation period. Businesses that specialise in architectural design, engineering services, or surveying will find this an advantageous proposition. Furthermore, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, potentially facilitating growth in their service offerings within the context of historic preservation projects funded by Historic England.

Notice Title

Partnership Grant Scheme, HSHAZ Barrow-in-Furness

Notice Description

The Council is looking for expressions of interest from architects with conservation accreditation (AABC or RIBA Conservation Accredited), to provide a schedule of rates for a 'design and project management service' to property owners wishing to take advantage of the scheme, as part of a mini framework of up to 3 approved suppliers that will be offered to all applicants. The schedule of rates supplied should also include a day rate for the accredited architect to act as an advisor for projects which have had drawn work produced by non-accredited architects who have already been appointed directly by the building owner earlier in the process. We are looking to launch the scheme for applications by the end of June, with a view to first live projects starting to flow in Aug/Oct 2021 and continue until all the grant allocation is expended. The HAZ programme is a 4-year programme that commenced in April 2020, so the shopfront grant scheme will last just short of 3 years. Because this programme is being funded by Historic England a priority score weighting will be given according to accreditation and relevant experience
