000666 Provision of a Daily Delivery Service Between the British Library Sites at Boston Spa and St Pancras
Notice Description
The main purpose of this Contract is to provide a daily (on weekdays) transport service which ensures the delivery of requested material in a secure and timely manner to London and their return to storage in Yorkshire. The material is largely Collection items transported either in skips stacked on pallets or in closed trolleys. Internal post is also carried, plus other items in roll cages or palletised, as the vehicle capacity allows. The vehicle provided under the current contract is a dedicated 18 tonne lorry. The Service is a key element in the British Library's service provision to its readers. The reliability and security of the Service are essential and the Contractor must make every effort to ensure that these are maintained at all times. The British Library takes the security and safe handling of its collections extremely seriously. The successful tenderer for this contract must be able to demonstrate a strong track record in delivering similar services to the required levels of security, reliability and value for money. A clearly demonstrated ability to supply suitable staff and vehicles to satisfy the British Library's requirements for the handling of national heritage collections and the security of its premises and property will be key to success in this tender. The Contract will commence on 1st July 2017 and will run for a period of three years with the option to extend for two further 12 month periods.
