Summary of the contracting process

Transport for London is seeking tenders for the project titled "Modular Retail Pods for Stations," which falls under the shop furniture industry category. This procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with a budget of £3,000,000 for the project set to commence on 2 January 2018 and conclude by 31 December 2019. The tender invites expressions of interest until 17:00 on 5 October 2017, targeting suppliers capable of developing, manufacturing, and installing modular retail units primarily for locations in London and the South East of the United Kingdom.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses focused on retail and construction, particularly those specialising in shop fittings, modular construction, and custom customer service installations. Specifically, companies that cater to the A1, A3, and A5 categories, including coffee shops, snack retailers, and newsagents, will find this to be an ideal fit. The modular nature of the units also allows for flexibility and rapid installation, making it suitable for businesses that can quickly adapt to the evolving retail environment within London’s transport hubs.

Notice Title

Modular Retail Pods for Stations

Notice Description

An opportunity has been identified to site a number of modular retail pods on various TfL and Crossrail premises and stations. These will not only allow us to provide exciting new retail opportunities for our customers, but also generate enhanced revenue to support investment in London's transport network. We anticipate these pods will mainly be occupied by A1, A3 and A5 tenants such as coffee bars, sandwich / snack retailers, confectionary outlets, newsagents and card retailers. TfL will be providing a steel / glass envelope with appropriate incoming services for tenants to fit out to suit their requirements. Tenant fit out will include the necessary fabric to support their business, but also services which could potentially include three phase power, HVAC and plumbing / drainage. TfL has procured a concept design for the pods which is detailed within this enquiry. We are seeking a supply chain to develop this design and then manufacture and install the units. There will also be an ongoing requirement for the provision of spare parts in the event of accidents, vandalism or other damage. Units are of steel and glass construction and are modular to allow various dimensional options as well as facilitating rapid installation and the possibility of straightforward location moves. Additional information: Please complete and return the accompanying short questionnaire if you would be interested in taking part in this opportunity. The closing date for receipt of expressions of interest will be 17:00 on Thursday 5 October. Please send your responses by email to Benjamin Kennedy at benjaminkennedy@tfl.gov.uk. Following receipt of your expressions of interest, we may ask you to join us at our offices for a 1:1 engagement session about the opportunity. In your response, please also indicate whether you would be interested in participating in this engagement exercise. We look forward to your responses. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions in the meantime. Contact details: Benjamin Kennedy, benjaminkennedy@tfl.gov.uk, 020 3054 7327, 07515 501040.
