Summary of the contracting process

The Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is planning to procure a system for the provision and management of staff photographic identity cards, which will also facilitate access to secure buildings and clinical equipment. The project is currently in the planning stage, with a procurement method classified as tender. Interested suppliers are invited to respond by 12 noon on 11th October 2019, with the initial response detailing their solutions, company overview, and indicative charges. The delivery is expected to cover the South West region of England, encompassing around 10,000 staff across various facilities.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in identity management systems and software packages, particularly those with experience in healthcare environments. Suppliers who can offer modular solutions that integrate with HR systems and demonstrate flexibility in service implementation would be well-suited to compete. The engagement with the NHS sector may enable businesses to expand their offerings and establish significant contracts within public healthcare services.

Notice Title

System for the provision and management of staff photographic identity cards, including their use to access secure building/areas and clinical equipment

Notice Description

We are keen to hear from suppliers of identity management systems, who may be able to offer a complete solution encompassing the provision of photo ID cards to all staff, with variable security settings to allow different groups of staff and individuals varying access rights. The supplier should detail how the cards would function, and how the system could be managed centrally and locally to ensure easy photographic identification of staff, security and appropriate access to buildings/areas and equipment on multiple sites. We are keen to hear from suppliers who believe they have solutions that can meet the requirements within this advert. Interested suppliers or groups of suppliers are requested to submit an initial response (max 4 pages) covering the following as a minimum: - Brief introduction / overview of company - Overview of solution on offer, including key features - Ability of solution to link on a live basis with HR records (i.e. ESR) - Typical delivery resources required to implement, including implementation timescales for an organisation of our size (10,000 staff, one large acute hospital, around 12 community hospitals, approx. 50 smaller community sites) - Whether the solution can be built on a modular basis (i.e. introduced at one site and then rolled out gradually to others) - Indicative charges for the proposed solution - Contact information - Case study (preferably within the NHS) The supplier response deadline is 12 noon on 11th October 2019. All queries and responses must be submitted through the ProContract e-tendering portal: https://procontract.due-north.com/Login
