Summary of the contracting process

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is currently in the planning stage of the "Regional SME Sports Economy Programme," which focuses on the training services industry. The programme aims to enhance the capabilities of UK SMEs by educating them on export opportunities linked to major sporting events outside the UK. Key dates include an engagement end date of 7th July 2020, by which time responses to the early market engagement notice are expected. Interested parties can find more details in the related documents, including technical specifications, which have been published in conjunction with the engagement notice on 16th June 2020.

This tender presents significant opportunities for SMEs engaged in training services, particularly those that can develop educational solutions such as webinars, e-learning modules, or best practice guidance related to sporting events. Businesses specialising in market analysis, training design, and delivery methods would be well-suited to compete in this process, enabling them to contribute to enhancing the export capabilities of UK enterprises while potentially increasing their own market reach and revenue from the public procurement sector.

Notice Title

Regional SME Sports Economy Programme

Notice Description

DIT's Sports Economy Team plans to roll out a programme to help educate and upskill UK companies, particularly SMEs, to understand, explore, and pursue export opportunities arising from major sporting events held outside of the UK. This will include inward and outward trade missions, conferences, and seminars. At the core of this programme will be the need to upskill UK companies. As a result, DIT wishes to procure a solution that will help companies to: 1) Understand the major sports events marketplace, the nature, make up and structure of the above and other major regional and sub-regional level sports events taking place over the next 10-15 years, and; 2) Provide best practice advice and guidance on the actions/preparations companies need to take themselves in preparing to pursue opportunities. DIT is carrying out early market engagement for this requirement. We are seeking responses to understand the possible solutions to the objectives listed above, whether these be paper-based, webinars, e-learning, or some other method (excluding trade missions). Responses should be no longer than four (4) sides of A4 and should briefly convey how the proposed solution would meet the objectives of the requirement. Responses should include an assessment of whether the indicated budget is sufficient. Please see the attached Brief Specification for more detail of the requirement. All responses should be submitted via email to Alistair.Goldspink@trade.gov.uk.
