Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Harrogate and Rural District CCG is initiating a procurement process for the 'GP Out of Hours Service' as part of a broader effort to enhance urgent care services in England. Currently, the procurement stage is in the planning phase, with a market engagement end date set for 23 February 2018. The service aims to provide urgent primary care outside the regular General Medical Services contract hours throughout the year. The anticipated budget is capped at £1.2 million annually per CCG, and the contract will potentially span five years, with a two-year extension option.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for healthcare providers experienced in delivering urgent care services. Businesses specialising in general practitioner services and those equipped to meet the quality and safety standards outlined by the National Quality Requirements will find this tender particularly suited to their capabilities. Companies interested in participating should engage in the market consultation process and attend the open event scheduled for 30 November 2017, where they can provide feedback and gather insights on the future procurement of these services.

Notice Title

NHS Harrogate and Rural District CCG GP Out of Hours Service

Notice Description

The recently published Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) Service Specification forms the mandated blue print underlying the future commissioning and delivery of urgent care services across England. The whole of England's population should be served by the IUC services by April 2019. Harrogate and Rural District (HaRD) CCG will commission the GP OOH service to support delivery of the new integrated urgent care requirements for Primary Care by 2019. The overarching aim of the OOH service will be to provide urgent Primary Care services outside core General Medical Services (GMS) contract provision hours every day of the year. The provider will be expected to deliver healthcare consistently in line with quality and safety standards as defined in National Quality Requirements (NQRs) in the delivery of Out of Hours services (July 2006), with the understanding the NQRs are to be superseded by the IUC service specification when fully implemented. It is currently envisioned the CCG will award a five year contract with the option to extend of up to two years. The budget envelope is set at no more than PS1.2m per annum per CCG. Additional information: Potential Providers are invited to express an interest in and provide comment regarding the provision of GP Out of Hours Services to NHS Harrogate and Rural District (HaRD) CCG through this Prior Information Notice. The market engagement consists of two elements: 1. A Request for Information (RFI) - an opportunity for potential providers to provide written feedback regarding the future procurement of these services. The RFI documentation can be found on the e-sourcing portal, www.nhssourcing.co.uk, under PQQs open to all suppliers, number PQQ_29388. 2. Attendance at an open market engagement event with the CCG on 30 November 2017, 09.15-12.30 To register your attendance at the event, please go to www.nhssourcing.co.uk, register as a provider, locate the PQQ_29388 and send a message through the portal to confirm your attendance at the event.
