Notice Description

Historic England's remit as the Government's lead advisor on heritage matters in England extends out to the limit of the UK Marine Area adjacent to England not subject to the jurisdiction of any UK Devolved Administration. Within the English Inshore Marine Plan Areas (i.e. to the Twelve Nautical Mile limit) we provide advice regarding the designation and management of the historic environment. For the English Offshore Marine Plan areas (i.e. to 200 nautical miles offshore or the median line with an adjacent State) we provide advice as relevant to inform the planning and licensing functions of competent authorities such as the Marine Management Organisation. We therefore require marine mapping and associated data to help us in our work, including: o Assessment and designation of marine sites recommended tor statutory protection; o Evaluation, assessment and decision making in response to marine planning and licencing applications; o Compilation of marine heritage information into the National Record of the Historic Environment.
