Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process, initiated by the Energy Systems Catapult, is for the tender titled "ESC1760 - Ecosystem Study". This project falls under the services category, specifically focusing on research and development consultancy services. The tender was published on 18th December 2017, with a bidding period that closed on 15th January 2018. The contract, valued at £110,000, is intended for organisations capable of assisting in defining commercial arrangements for a prototype Shared Ecosystem, primarily targeting the United Kingdom but also open to delivery in British Overseas Territories, Channel Islands, Europe, and the Isle of Man.

This tender offers substantial opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in research consultancy and innovative energy solutions. Companies with expertise in developing new energy services, as well as those familiar with both market structures and regulatory frameworks, would be particularly well-suited to compete. The Energy Systems Catapult encourages consortium bids to enhance the collective expertise, making this an advantageous opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) looking to expand their capabilities and presence in the energy sector.

Notice Title

ESC1760 - Ecosystem Study

Notice Description

The Energy Systems Catapult wishes to appoint a suitably qualified consultant to help it define potentially suitable commercial arrangements for a prototype of a Shared Ecosystem to enable a range of organisations to test new energy system innovations, with an initial focus on behind-the-meter energy services. The Energy Systems Catapult is interested in expertise from different sectors, from the perspective of enabling innovation for a new paradigm that focuses on delivery of services that consumers value. The Catapult is not looking solely for expertise in the existing market structures and regulatory arrangements for energy; or for a perspective on how the existing highly regulated utilities structures may be transformed. Consortium bids are welcomed if it enhances the balance of expertise available for the scope of work, but it is expected that a single organisation shall lead the work to ensure it is coherent and properly synthesised.
