Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Education is planning a tender for the programme titled "Breakfast clubs," aimed at expanding breakfast club provisions in approximately 1,600 schools across England. The initiative falls under the education and training services category and focuses on supporting disadvantaged families and pupils. Key dates include the engagement end on 23rd February 2018, with initial discussions commencing in early 2017. Interested parties are encouraged to reach out via email by the specified deadline to register for information meetings, which will assist in understanding the programme further. The procurement process will be managed through the Redimo2 platform.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in education-related services, particularly those with expertise in breakfast club management or support services. Companies that can provide comprehensive solutions or form consortia to enhance service delivery and target schools in deprived areas may find this opportunity particularly advantageous. The focus on schools lacking pre-existing breakfast clubs opens avenues for new providers to engage with the education sector and positively impact community support initiatives.

Notice Description

See 'Attachments' for a full description and further information. The Department for Education will launch a tender in early 2017 to support the expansion of breakfast clubs in approximately 1,600 schools so that more pupils have a healthy start to their day. The programme will focus on supporting disadvantaged pupils families, schools and areas. We want to explore the optimum approach to managing the delivery and providing on the ground support to set-up provision in schools. A single national provider or consortium could deliver the whole programme. We would also consider working with two providers or consortia, breaking the delivery down by geographical area, if this was deemed to result in more effective delivery. The programme will need to identify and focus on schools and families who will benefit most from new or improved breakfast club provision. This could include targeting schools without a breakfast club and schools who have not previously received funding or support for this provision. It may also include a focus on schools with a high proportion of disadvantaged pupils, in particular those in deprived areas. School leadership and capacity will need to be considered in the selection of schools and support offered. Additional information: Meetings with members of the project procurement team will provide the opportunity for interested organisations to gain a better understanding of the breakfast club programme. Please email Healthy.Pupils@education.gov.uk by 10 February to register your interest in a meeting and we will arrange to speak to interested parties in February 2017. Please note that this does not equate to a formal expression of interest in any future procurement activity. The tender will be launched and managed through Redimo2. Bidders who are not already registered on Redimo2 will need to register their company details in order to access this tender opportunity.
