Notice Title

Central Park Phase 1 - Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Services

Notice Description

PCC has awarded a creative, landscape led, design team to provide a coordinated package that delivers the following works, although, as described lower down, we do not anticipated the services engineer being involved in each element: 1. Expanding the skatepark for additional skate, BMX and parkour; 2. Improve access to and within the events field; 3. Improve pedestrian links between the skate park, play area and main avenues; 4. Remodel and enhance the play area to cater for older and younger children; 5. Construct a new cafe, incorporating the clock tower (shown within the purple line on the revised plan in appendix C1, east of the Events Field); 6. Designing an arboretum to the north of the park (shown within a purple line to the north of the park, although the exact location of the boundaries is subject to the outcome of the consultation process). From an engineering perspective, some consideration of the drainage proposals will be required; 7. Pathways outside of the "red line" which run throughout the site, shown in appendix C2. We anticipate the engineer to specify build-ups underneath the paths and associated drainage, with the architect specifying the finishing course; 8. Refurbish and possibly extend the bowling green building to accommodate a wider range of users; 9. Construct 4 new tennis courts behind the bowling green building; 10. Refurbish the changing facilities near the baseball pitch, which are assumed to be in a structurally sound condition. Tenderers will need to include for a structural survey of this building. Of the above elements of work, we anticipate requiring services engineering design in the following areas: 1. Remodel and enhance the play area to cater for older and younger children, lighting and sundry power only; 2. Construct a new cafe, incorporating the clock tower (shown within the purple line on the revised plan in appendix C1, east of the Events Field); 3. Designing an arboretum to the north of the park (shown within a purple line to the north of the park, although the exact location of the boundaries is subject to the outcome of the consultation process), lighting and sundry power only; 4. Pathways outside of the "red line" which run throughout the site, shown in appendix C2, lighting and sundry power only; 5. Refurbish and possibly extend the bowling green building to accommodate a wider range of users; 6. Construct 4 new tennis courts behind the bowling green building, hose bib, lighting and sundry power only; 7. Refurbish the changing facilities near the baseball pitch, which are assumed to be in a structurally sound condition.
