Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is initiating a procurement process titled "The Provision of a Defence Air Passenger Services System (DAPSS)", classified under the Passenger Information System category. This planned tender, which is in the Planning stage, aims to establish an air passenger logistics support system, with a contract value estimated between £1 million and £11 million. Key dates include the expected issue of the Contract Notice and Supplier Selection in February 2022, followed by the Invitation to Tender in May 2022. The capability will be deployed at various locations including RAF airheads in the UK and worldwide.

This procurement presents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in logistical support systems, particularly those with capabilities in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications. Companies that can supply integrated scheduling software, reservation systems, and departure control systems would be well-suited to compete. Additionally, suppliers who can ensure compliance with stringent aviation regulations and provide ongoing support services are encouraged to engage, making this a promising venture for both small and medium-sized enterprises that can demonstrate innovation and adaptability in the defence sector.
