Notice Description

The UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) would like to invite interested parties to attend a Supplier Day concerning the provision of the agricultural commercial and development activities planned for 2021 in Colombia. Over the past 3 years, the UK's Prosperity Fund (PF) for Colombia has been working to achieve poverty reduction and gender equality in the country through inclusive economic growth. One of its priority areas has been agriculture, in which it seeks to improve the capacity of rural smallholders, especially female farmers. It does this by bringing new technology, know-how and insurance services from the UK to Colombia. The agricultural sector in Colombia needs greater resilience to factors such as the climate change, which is expected to heighten risks in the sector. For this reason, the PF plans to launch a competition that aims to develop affordable agri-insurance products tailor-made for smallholders in Colombia. This seeks to facilitate the adoption of new risk management models, innovations and approaches that are available in the UK market. During 2021 the PF will launch three agricultural activities i) Agri-insurance Challenge Fund, ii) Agritech trade mission to Colombia and iii) a conference to promote the diversification of non-traditional crops (Biolink). The supplier would deliver the activities mentioned in collaboration with the PF and other relevant stakeholders. The virtual Supplier Day will be hosted on 2nd of September 2020 and it is expected to start at 3:00 p.m. GMT (9:00 a.m. Colombian time).
