Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is in the tender stage for the procurement of "Noise and Statutory Nuisance - Ad-hoc Technical Support". The initiative aims to secure high-quality, specialist technical input for Defra's Noise and Statutory Nuisance Policy and Evidence Teams, particularly in the technical support services category. This procurement is open to businesses capable of providing expertise in road and rail traffic, aviation, light, odour, and smoke, among other areas. The contract's initial term of four years, starting 20th December 2024, can be extended by up to three additional years in twelve-month increments. Interested parties must submit their queries and proposals electronically by 23rd September 2024, 12:00 pm.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specializing in environmental noise and statutory nuisance management. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a background in noise-control consultancy, artificial and natural lighting engineering, and noise pollution advisory services will find this particularly advantageous. The ad-hoc nature of the work orders means a flexible approach is needed, but the long contract term and possible extensions offer a stable growth trajectory for competent suppliers. Engaging with this tender could result in sustained collaborations and broader exposure to similar governmental projects.
