Summary of the contracting process

Birmingham City Council is seeking suppliers for the Birmingham and Solihull Youth Promise Plus (YPP) Project, aimed at providing educational, employment, and training support for young people aged 15-29 who are NEET (not in education, employment, or training). The procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with the open tender due to close on 25th February 2022. The contracts are scheduled to commence on 1st June 2022 and to conclude on 31st December 2023, covering two specific service lots: specialist provisions for young people facing significant barriers and a wrap-around service for those with mental health needs. The procurement method involves an open procedure, allowing for competitive bidding.

This tender presents a substantial opportunity for businesses in the services sector, particularly those specialising in youth services, education, and mental health support. Companies experienced in providing tailored employment and training interventions or those offering mental health services are well-positioned to compete for this contract. The necessity for innovative solutions aligned with EU funding requirements may further benefit SMEs capable of delivering impactful community programmes. Engaging with this project could enhance visibility and foster long-term relationships with local government, as well as contribute positively to youth engagement initiatives within the West Midlands region.
