Notice Description

Highways England's Safer Roads - People team is seeking specialist support the development, trial and implementation of future compliance technologies. The objectives of this Task are: - To develop intervention measures (i.e. warning letters and associated material) to improve driver behaviour with regards to close following. - To monitor the effectiveness of the close following intervention measures on the Strategic Road Network (SRN). - To continue to support the development and trial of mobile phone and seatbelt detection technologies on the SRN. - To conduct a series of data capture sorties from the Sensor Test Vehicle of close following behaviour, mobile phone use, and non-seatbelt wearing. - To provide ad-hoc assistance to the Project Sponsor as required regarding the use of technology for other non-compliant behaviours such as lane hogging, roadworthiness, aggressive driving etc. - To produce a final technical report at the end of the project which summarises all of the work to date and provide recommendations of how development and implementation of these technologies should be progressed.
