Essex County Council has initiated a tender for the "In Lieu of Short-Term Enablement" service, designed to provide high-quality intermediate care support for adults assessed as needing temporary assistance. The procurement falls within the health and social work services category and has a total budget of £2,900,000. The contract period is set to commence on 2nd March 2020 and will run until 2nd May 2021. The tender process employs an open procedure and was published on 28th February 2020, with a submission deadline that closed on 11th December 2019. The services will be delivered across the East of England, primarily in residential settings or the clients' homes, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to individual needs.

Businesses that provide intermediate care solutions, home healthcare, or community support services would find this contract particularly relevant. Engaging in this procurement could enhance operational capacity and service offerings, fostering deeper community ties and potentially leading to future contracts with Essex County Council or other local authorities.

Notice Title

In Lieu of Short-Term Enablement

Notice Description

The In Lieu of Short-Term Enablement Service is for adults who have been assessed as requiring a period of intermediate care whilst determining their longer term support needs. The Service is designed to provide a high quality locality based intermediate care service. The Service will provide flexible, intensive, consistent and integrated short term support to enable an adult to remain at home or return to their normal place of residence. The Service will provide support to adults to maximise their independence and achieve their optimum level of function, usually in their own home (but support could also be delivered within other settings including a relative's home, a residential setting or temporary accommodation), including a rapid response when required. This could be to enable an early and safe transfer from hospital, to prevent admission to hospital, or to meet an immediate support requirement within the community.
