Notice Description

NHS England and Improvement is seeking a partner to develop a national digital professional records standard on shared decision making, so that relevant information can be effectively shared between patients, carers and all the healthcare professionals involved in that person's care. The successful organisation must have a proven track record in developing high quality standards that are operationally fit for purpose, adopted and endorsed within healthcare across the UK. Demonstrate how it will meet assurance, quality and compliance standards to ensure the standard is endorsed by professional bodies and key system stakeholders. The successful organisation must be able to demonstrate how the proposed shared decision making standard will align to the existing Professional Records Standard Body quality standards (i.e. the Core Information Standard) in terms of content and branding. The developed standard will support national and local systems to create a more efficient and effective care record for patient and care providers to optimise Shared Decision Making conversations and should reflect/include: * Wide consultation to get views and raise awareness across health (beyond advocates for Shared Decision Making) through Professional Records Standard Body members, networks, other relevant stakeholders, and through patient & public representative members and citizen networks. * Consultation and engagement with suppliers and informaticians to ensure its implementable. * Implementation guidance, clinical safety case, examples and clinically assured Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) specifications, produced by NHS Digital, to support sharing of the Shared Decision Making information * Data Alliance Partnership Board standard application, working in conjunction with NHSE/I * Endorsement from relevant Royal Colleges, professional bodies and other key stakeholders * Publication on Professional Records Standard Body website * Clear proposal for ownership, support & maintenance service Please contact Sean McLafferty at sean.mclafferty@nhs.net for further details.
