Summary of the contracting process

The tender for "Adult 16+ Community Micro Suction Services (ACEMS)" has been awarded by Attain, the buying organisation representing West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). This procurement process falls within the health services industry category and was executed through an open procedure. The contract will be in effect from 1 July 2019 until 31 March 2022, providing a maximum contract value of £150,000. The delivery will take place within the West Essex area, specifically addressing community healthcare needs focused on ENT conditions.

This contract offers significant opportunities for service providers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) with relevant expertise in community health services. With a focus on high-quality care, those businesses that can deliver efficient, safe, and patient-centred Micro Suction Services are well-positioned to compete. The potential for future inclusion in the Any Qualified Provider framework could further allow additional businesses to participate and expand their operations within this local healthcare landscape.

Notice Title

Adult 16+ Community Micro Suction Services (ACEMS) - West Essex CCG

Notice Description

West Essex CCG wished to implement an Any Qualified Provider framework of suitably capable providers to deliver Adult 16+ Micro Suction Services (ACEMS) across the West Essex CCG locality. The Any Qualified Provider (AQP) model is an accreditation process underpinned by a 'call-off' of a Provider's services determined according to patient choice. There are a large number of patients treated for ENT conditions every year. It is estimated that approximately 6,500 ENT outpatient appointments are attended every year in West Essex. Reducing unnecessary referrals into secondary care should prove to be cost effective, as well as delivering high-quality care in the community and increasing patient choice. The service seeks to provide a safe and effective high quality Micro Suction Service which avoids unnecessary hospital attendances for patients who can be managed in a community / primary care setting. The evaluation process has concluded with the contract being awarded. Additional information: The contract was awarded to Uttlesford Health Ltd. The CCG may decide to reopen the approved list on an annual basis to add further providers to the AQP list. The value identified is a maximum potential value available across the contract period.
