Notice Title

Design Consultant - Command of the Heights - Chatham

Notice Description

Medway Council in partnership with the Fort Amherst Heritage Trust and other local and regional partners are working together to deliver a vision for the future of the Great Lines Heritage Park - a network of spaces connecting Chatham, Brompton, Gillingham, and the historic Dockyard. The 'Command of the Heights' project has secured a successful funding application to the Heritage Lottery Fund [HLF] in February 2015. The project aims to: Remove a building (Riverside One) which obscures the southern end of the Barrier Ditch of the Chatham historic defences at Gun Wharf, in order to restore the 'lost' nineteenth century section of the Chatham Lines; Improve the Riverside area of the public realm as a key gateway to Chatham Town and Historic Dockyard; Improve the visitor entry route to Fort Amherst via the Barrier Road Ditch and through this to enable appreciation of the vast scale and purpose of the fortifications in their entirety; Repair, enhance and re-open Spur Battery and its environs in conjunction with providing a performance venue. Medway Council in partnership with Fort Amherst now wish to procure consultancy design services for RIBA Plan of Work Stages to completion
