Notice Title

GB-Chertsey, Surrey: Cost Advisor- Courtyard 2 infill & OPD Restaurant

Notice Description

Introduction Ashford and St Peter's NHS Foundation Trust has tendered for the Principal Designer and Lead Consultant role for the infill of the St Peter's Hospital Outpatients Department (OPD) Courtyards 2 and 8. The Courtyard 8 element is to be abandoned with the winning design team for that converted to the design of the hospital restaurant shell. Appointments to the roles are expected shortly. The Trust now seeks bids for the role of Cost Consultant - Quantity Surveyor in the development and delivery of the contracts, each of which must complete by the end of March 2019. Background The disposal of 10 hectares of land in the west of the hospital campus requires the relocation of a number of services and facilities to the main hospital site in the east. The Trust Central Store is to be re-located to Level 2 in Courtyard 2, with a direct access route from the loading dock through to the new area. The Level 2 area will need to have two offices in the new build - one for the stores persons accessed from within the storage area, the second to provide a control office for domestic staff managers with access from the corridor between Courtyards 1 and 2. Total floor level build area approximately 150 square metres The Estates and Facilities Engineering Stores are to be relocated to a mezzanine floor at Level 3 in Courtyard 2 with access to be from the corridor linking OPD to the Duchess of Kent Wing. This space will also require a small office for the store's manager. Total mezzanine floor level build area approximately 100-125 square metres. Originally Courtyard 8 was to have been created as a single level open plan office space, and the Courtyards Infill tender bids dealt with this as Lot 2 (Courtyard 2 was Lot 1). The Trust no longer requires Lot 2, but would like the QS to work with the design team that would have been appointed to Lot 2 to take on the design and development of a new restaurant in its stead. The new restaurant and Level 1 hospital access will link the proposed multi deck car park to the hospital outpatients department. The restaurant will be constructed as a shell ready for fit out and will require an atrium style roof over the light-well that serves as a traffic island outside OPD at Level 2. This roofing arrangement may be temporary requiring removal when construction of the envisaged retail units starts, possibly in late 2019 or 2020. Total build area approximately 800 square metres. The projects can progress in both Courtyard 2 and the new restaurant area at the same time, with the completion of each no later than March 2019. The works are to be designed to be accommodated within the existing buildings with due notice of the requirements of relevant Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) and in accordance with the building regulations and other statutory requirements. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
