Notice Title

Evaluation of Risk of Organophosphorus Flame Retardants in Drinking Water Sources

Notice Description

1.1 The authority aims to understand the likelihood of Organophosphorus Flame Retardants (OPFRs) occurring in drinking water sources and to establish possible concentrations and treatment removal methods. 1.2 The objectives of this project are as follows: Review the existing literature on the use of OPFRs and their likely presence in source waters used for drinking water abstraction. Review existing literature to estimate the likely concentrations of OPFRs in source waters used for drinking water supplies and identify any specific OPFRs that are likely to be most prevalent. Using existing literature, establish the likely removal efficiencies of OPFR compounds through different water treatment processes in order to evaluate whether there is a risk of OPFR occurrence in drinking water. Report the findings of the literature review study in a final project report.
