Notice Title

Peer Enhanced E-Placement Project

Notice Description

Health Education England are putting out this notice as a VEAT (Voluntary Ex ante Transparency Notice) a view to completing a Direct Award to Education Alchemist Ltd and University of East Anglia Practice learning placements play a critical role in all fields of healthcare training and education. In recent years, there has been an increased demand for quality practice learning environments, combined with a backlog of students affected by the lack of placements during the Covid 19 pandemic, has intensified pressure within the system. There is also an over-reliance on securing placements within acute clinical settings resulting in valuable experiences in specialist areas being overlooked. There have been various developed innovative solutions to provide variety and an increase in practice learning capacity across various health professions, including the use of technology effectively. (Health Education England 2022) The Peer Enhanced E- Placement (PEEP) is an evidence-based model that presents the healthcare education sector with an opportunity to provide virtual practice learning placement that demonstrates evidence of benefits to the learner, practice learning teams and the wider health and social care sector. PEEP was first developed as an emergency response to covid placement suspensions. Over the last two years the model has been developed further to offer an alternative and innovative practice learning opportunity. The PEEP is delivered to students entirely online and harnesses evidence-based online and peer-learning pedagogy. It provides students with a quality learning experience, with their professional standards and practice-based placement learning outcomes full embedded in the design and delivery. Whole cohorts of students can complete a PEEP simultaneously due to the peer group pedagogy, timetable structuring and flexibility of the implementation of the PEEP model. HEE is seeking to develop and deploy a web-based version of the Peer Enhanced e-Placement tool using the existing eLearning for Health (eLfH) platform. All communications should be made via the messaging function on the Health Family eTendering portal. If any provider has concerns with the commissioning intentions outlined within the published documentation, please raise this via the eTendering Portal in the first instance within 30 days of the date of this Prior Information Notice The financial envelope for this VEAT is PS32,586.31
