Notice Title

Afghan Resettlement Programme Wraparound Support Service

Notice Description

Government has emphasized the need to transition current guests from temporary Hotel provision to longer term settled accommodation. Recent good practice guidance has broken down effective interventions into the following key areas: Creating the conditions for Move On For example: - Myth busting some of the expectations around housing and employment markets in the UK particularly around size / quality of UK housing and access to social housing) - Providing practical information on transport in and around the UK (and confirmation that many British nationals are required to travel some distance to work) - Facilitating the transition of families across local authorities by sharing key information (including number of family members, gender, age, education levels, mental health issues, past experiences and so forth) between local authorities and relevant statutory services. Supporting guests to accept a matched council property for example: - Being clear that other properties are unlikely to be available and would be of similar size and quality - Being clear that this is the first step towards their longer-term plans in the UK, not the location they need to remain in forever - Helping guests understand the role of the council once they are moved into settled accommodation - Support the transition of families as they move on by providing them with information about the local area, providing reassurance and a 'friendly face' in the new area, and responding to any questions or concerns they may have about the property or local area and community Providing practical tools that may help for example: - Providing maps of the UK on the wall to provide clarity on distances - Helping guests download transport apps (trainline etc) onto phones so they can understand time and distance to travel to family / employment - Showing photos of the house and local area - Using google maps to demonstrate distance to services and amenities A commissioned Move-On service is actively working with guests to support them with move-on - especially into the private rented sector. The wraparound support service will be expected to support sign up to this service. Additional information: Please see the service specification situated in the RFQ Pack for more information.
