Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves NHS Barking and Dagenham, alongside other Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) from Havering, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest, issuing a tender for the North East London Elective Care Services. This contract covers a range of surgical and medical services for a population of approximately 1 million residents in outer north-east London. The tender period is set to end on 1st February 2017, with the anticipated contract start date on 3rd April 2017. The contract will run for an initial term of 63 months, with a possible extension of 12 months, and has an estimated total value ranging between £64,543,020 and £69,706,462. The services required include outpatient and inpatient care across various specialisations including ENT, Gynaecology, and Orthopaedics, all provided under a 'Light Touch Regime' as established by the Public Contracts Regulations 2015.

This tender provides significant opportunities for healthcare providers specialising in elective care services, particularly for those experienced in outpatient, day-case, and surgical procedures. Businesses that can deliver high-quality diagnostic and follow-up care, as well as inpatient services, would be well-suited to compete. Moreover, providers that can establish outreach sites and demonstrate capacity for delivering a diverse range of medical specialties will have a competitive advantage in this process. The collaborative approach taken by the CCGs provides a robust framework for potential suppliers to engage with a wide-reaching healthcare initiative, fostering growth in the healthcare sector.
