Notice Title

GB-London: Fair and effect debt management

Notice Description

The economic impact from the Covid-19 pandemic has been critical for both councils and their communities. Record numbers of households are in debt, councils are facing lower collection rates and more consumers find themselves in vulnerable circumstances. This climate threatens both the financial resilience of communities and the financial stability of councils themselves. Councils have come under much scrutiny for the methods used to collect debt and the ways in which they identify and This project will seek to strengthen our understanding of how councils can and should deliver fair and effective debt management as part of a wider financial inclusion strategy. This will complement other work that is being delivered as part of the LGAs existing Reshaping Financial Support (RFS) programme. We would like to identify and build on existing good practice and share findings to support sector-led improvement. We would like the learning from this project to form the basis of evidence-based recommendations and a business case that will inform national policy development and support levelling up.
