Notice Title

Domestic Abuse - Emotional Wellbeing Market Engagement

Notice Description

Essex County Council would like to invite prospective providers to participate in a market engagement event in preparation for a future procurement opportunity. The procurement is for Emotional Wellbeing Support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse. This includes adults and children, their family members, friends, or someone affected by domestic. The model includes 'social support' rather than therapeutic i.e. delivered through peer support, mentoring and coaching. The service is to be delivered across all areas of Essex. As part of Essex County Council's work to implement our duties under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, we undertook a needs assessment, highlighting that in nearly half of all victims and survivors, mental health support needs were reported to be present. Therefore, Essex County Council has committed to making emotional wellbeing support available for all victims and survivors of domestic abuse throughout their domestic abuse journey. To do this, we have undertaken a number of exercises in partnership with stakeholders and people with lived experiences of domestic abuse to explore potential models of support for people at early intervention, crisis, and post-recovery stages. The overarching aim of this project is to delivery the following outcomes for all victims and survivors through peer support, mentoring and coaching: * Build the resilience needed to recover from the trauma of domestic abuse and start to rebuild their lives. * Have improved mental and physical health, including improved emotional wellbeing. * Feel better connected to and safe in their communities. * Feel better able to maintain positive relationships and safe exit from unhealthy relationships. Our aim is to reach out to as many communities as possible and would therefore welcome providers with experience and knowledge of working with marginalised groups and those with protected characteristics. We would like to encourage attendance from providers. The market engagement event will be conducted via Teams on Thursday 11th August 13:00 - 15:00. If your organisation would like to attend this event, please e-mail seth.hopkins@essex.gov.uk by 8th August 2022, confirming the number of colleagues who wish to attend and an e-mail address. To register your interest in attending the event, or if you have any further questions about the procurement opportunity, please make contact at Seth.hopkins@essex.gov.uk
