Summary of the contracting process

The Basildon Borough Council is seeking proposals for the operation, maintenance, and administration of its three main fisheries. This procurement falls under the category of services incidental to fishing and is currently in the Award stage, having been completed with the contract awarded on 22nd June 2016. The contract is set to commence on 23rd June 2016 and will last until 22nd June 2023, with a possible two-year extension. It is important for tenderers to note that proposals must include strategies to promote the fisheries to the community, specifically through advertising and initiatives aimed at encouraging participation across various demographics, including juniors and disabled individuals. The awarded contract offers significant opportunities for businesses involved in community services, recreation management, or fisheries management to bolster their growth. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would be particularly well-suited to participate in future tenders as this contract may be suitable for them based on the buying organisation’s criteria. Entities with expertise in community engagement, marketing, and sustainable fisheries practices will find this offering advantageous, allowing them to collaborate with the Council in fostering community participation and enhancing local recreational resources.
