Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process titled "NEPO - Children's Complaints, Advocacy and Representation," initiated by Newcastle City Council, aims to establish a unified procurement solution for providing children's advocacy services under statutory obligations. The contract spans areas such as independent investigating officers and panel chairs for children's social care complaints. This open procurement exercise, compliant with EU regulations, featured a tender period that concluded on 9th August 2018, with a total contract value of £500,000 and a minimum threshold of £100,000. The contract period was set to commence on 1st October 2018 and run until 30th September 2020, primarily focusing on health and social work services within the North East region of England.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth for businesses specialising in health and social work services, particularly those that can offer advocacy, investigative, and consulting services geared towards children's welfare. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would be especially well-suited to compete given their flexibility and ability to tailor services to meet the specific needs of local authorities. Businesses with the capacity to engage in collaborative programmes or partnerships might also find this opportunity advantageous, as Newcastle City Council looks to work alongside other regional authorities to fulfil these important obligations.
