Summary of the contracting process

The Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is initiating a procurement process titled "Provision of Dental Services - Market Engagement Event." This opportunity falls within the dental practice and related services industry and is located in the West Midlands, England. Currently, the procurement stage is in the planning phase, with a key milestone being the engagement end date set for 11th November 2021. This event will take place online, allowing interested suppliers to gain insights into the Trust's requirements and prepare for potential future procurement activities.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in dental services, particularly those equipped to handle Level 2 and 3 Endodontic treatments. Companies that are well-suited to compete are likely to have a strong track record in delivering dental care and the capacity to manage an increased patient load, given the backlog resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. Participation in the market engagement event will be crucial for suppliers wishing to position themselves favourably for upcoming procurement processes and potentially secure contracts with the Trust.

Notice Title

Provision of Dental Services - Market Engagement Event

Notice Description

The Birmingham Dental Hospital along with key regional and national stakeholders have recognised that the Covid-19 pandemic has created complex challenges for all dental services across the West Midlands and the country. The suspension of routine dental services from March 2020 has contributed in some instances to patients in the general population, developing more acute dental problems. In addition to this, there are patients who have had their treatment suspended partway through treatment plans contributing to a substantial backlog of patients awaiting dental care along with other patients waiting for their first initial assessment. A significant number of patients are now waiting more than 52 weeks for treatment with a growing number waiting more than 104 weeks. This is of serious concern for the NHS and it recognised that an innovative approach is required to address treatment backlog challenges. The purpose of this notice is to notify the market of the Dental Hospital's intention to undertake pre-procurement market engagement prior to commencing procurement activity to identify suitably qualified Suppliers the Trust can sub-contract to provide Level 2 and 3 Endodontic treatment to patients in the Midlands. The Market Engagement Event will consist of an online presentation delivered by the Trust, detailing its high-level requirements, and explaining how potential Suppliers may ready themselves for any procurement process that may follow. Information will also be available on the procurement process and timetable, with an open Q&A session for Suppliers to raise any questions. This will be held online on Thursday 11th November 2021 at 1800. Interested suppliers should email sharon.appleby@nhs.net to express their interest and receive details of the event. Additional information: The publication of this notice does not signify the commencement of any procurement process and does not constitute any commitment by the Trust to undertake any procurement exercise. In the event that the Trust might decide to commence any procurement process as contemplated by this notice, a separate notice will be published at the relevant time. This early market engagement event is suitable for suppliers that have knowledge, capacity and capability and track record to meet the requirements when the competition is published. The Authority administers all procurements electronically via the Trust's e-procurement Solution portal (Due North)
