Summary of the contracting process

The Christchurch and East Dorset Council is currently undertaking a public procurement process for the "Highcliffe Castle - Exhibition Design Services" tender. This project, classified under the services industry and specifically related to exhibition equipment, is aimed at enhancing visitor experiences at the historical site located on the Dorset coast, which attracts approximately 30,000 visitors annually. The open procurement method allows all interested parties to submit proposals, with a tender deadline set for 4th March 2018. The awarded contract will commence on 4th April 2018 and is expected to conclude by 31st October 2019, with a total contract value of £64,000.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in exhibition design, interpretation services, and cultural project management, particularly those that are small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs). Successful bidders will contribute to the conservation and enhancement of Highcliffe Castle, potentially increasing visitor numbers and turnover for the council. Companies that can demonstrate expertise in delivering creative exhibition solutions and have experience in working with cultural heritage projects would be particularly well-suited to compete for this contract.

Notice Title

Highcliffe Castle - Exhibition Design Services

Notice Description

Highcliffe Castle, on the Dorset coast, is a visitor attraction attracting 30,000 visitors a year. The Castle was rendered derelict in the 1960's by fire and abandonment. Whilst externally restored in the 1990's with assistance and funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund there is an ongoing phased approach to the continued repair and conservation of the interior. The project focuses on the repair of the remaining ground floor and basement areas. This is important as it will give access to more of the heritage, including the servant's areas and original kitchen. The objectives of the project are to: - Improve the visitor experience - Increase visitor numbers - Increase turnover for the attraction. We are looking for a single agency to deliver two elements of work, an Interpretation Specialist and Exhibition Designer. The Interpretation Specialist/Exhibition Designer will be responsible for producing the following information/key documentation: - 1. Design Documentation: Exhibition and interpretative design plan and specifications for the permanent displays to RIBA L / Stage 7. This should also include allocation of space for temporary exhibitions. 2. Reports including monthly progress reports and reports for submission to funders including HLF 3. Input into the Management and Maintenance Plan Tenderers must upload and submit Supplier Response Documents electronically via www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk Note that you must upload your documents and then submit your documents. If you upload your documents but fail to "Submit" them, the Authority will not receive them and they will not be considered during the evaluation stage.
