Notice Title
Rapid Deployment Fence Boom 2016
Notice Description
The MCA wishes to purchase two rapid deployment Fence Boom systems. Each system will be 200m in length and will be quick and easy to deploy It is envisaged that the booms will be of the solid flotation type and be approximately 0.75m and 1m (inclusive of both draft and freeboard). The boom should be heavy duty/reinforced with high visibility markings and tenderers should provide full details of the material used in the manufacture. The booms will be part of the MCA's stockpile of counter pollution equipment and will be used, in the event of a major oil spill, for the containment of oil spilled into the seas around the UK, especially in inlets and harbour entrance areas. The contractor must include options on storage as well as ideal storage temperatures. The fence booms must have the option of deployment from a dockside and towed to the scene of a spill or deployment from a vessel at sea. The maximum towing capability of the fence booms must be stated. The number of personnel needed for this action and an estimated deployment timescale are required. The contractor must include full details of the warranty on the tendered equipment including the period of cover and also explain if in-house maintenance affects the warranty terms. Tenderers should provide a cost to provide training / commissioning of this equipment. A lead time for delivery to Barnsley, which must be by 31 March 2017 must be included.
