Summary of the contracting process

The Courtauld Institute of Art is currently engaged in a completed tender process for the procurement of display cases under the title "Gallery Showcases and Display Cases." This project is a significant part of the Courtauld Connects initiative, which aims to enhance teaching and research facilities at their premises in Somerset House, London. The tender was awarded on 1st May 2020, with a total contract value of £300,000. The contract period began on 2nd May 2020 and is set to conclude by 9th April 2021. The procurement method used was selective, following a restricted procedure within the goods category. This tender presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in the design, fabrication, and installation of display cases to expand their market presence. SMEs in the exhibition design and manufacturing sector, particularly those with experience in working with heritage sites and listed buildings, would be particularly well-suited to pursue similar contracts. Engaging in such projects allows businesses to contribute to transformative cultural initiatives while enhancing their portfolios within the competitive arts and heritage sector.

Notice Title

Gallery Showcases and Display Cases

Notice Description

This contract award is for Showcase Suppliers to design, fabricate and install showcases/display cases for the Courtauld Institute of Art/Courtauld Gallery as a part of the Courtauld Connects Project. Courtauld Connects is a major, multi-million-pound transformation project - the biggest development programme since The Courtauld moved to Somerset House. This visionary project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, will enable The Courtauld significantly to improve teaching and research facilities, enhance the Gallery and widen and extend our reach locally, nationally and internationally. A key part of the project will be a major redevelopment of The Courtauld's magnificent premises in the North Block of Somerset House. We are working with Stirling Prize-winning architects Witherford Watson Mann carefully to restore our important Grade One listed-building as well as transform access to and experience of The Courtauld for our students and the public.
